Although various types of mineral water are found in the Caucasus region, none of them have the same composition as “Borjomi”. The composition of this magical water is a real mystery of nature, whose unique properties have been studied since the beginning of the 19th century. More than a hundred scientific works and various studies have revealed the exceptional properties and healing power of Borjomi water.
In ancient times, people not only drank the mineral water of Borjomi Springs but also used it for therapeutic baths. This is evidenced by the found stone baths, whose roots go back to the first millennium BC. This long history of mineral water use highlights the uniqueness, longevity and value of this source. Borjomi Mineral Water Resort
It is a wonderful town surrounded by green mountains. It is always calm, and quiet and has healthy air and mineral water springs and pools. True, warm and still, but straight from the well, “Borjomi” will not appeal to everyone, but it is worth tasting. Because it is very healthy and it has been spoken like this for far from the first century.
According to historians and archaeologists, in ancient times, people not only drank the water from Borjomi springs but also used it for therapeutic baths. This fact is confirmed by stone baths found during excavations, built in the first millennium BC. Although various types of mineral water are found in the Caucasus region, none of them have the same composition as “Borjomi”. Since the 19th century since the beginning, more than 100 scientific papers have been written about its exceptional properties, various studies have been carried out. You won’t find much fun or active entertainment in Borjomi itself. The main place for a walk is a park with mineral water springs, swimming pools, children’s attractions, wonderful nature and the opportunity to go up the mountain by cable car, where picturesque horizons open up. Villas built in the time of tsarist Russia, interesting architectural solutions, and rivers that are energetic, like the Georgian spirit, are also fascinating.
Borjomi mineral water
Archaeological research shows that the water was used for its healing properties more than a thousand years ago, deep in the Lesser Caucasus Mountains. However, over the centuries, the sources were gradually forgotten. The first Borjomi bottling plant was opened in 1896. And operated until the sixth decade. Water has never lost its famous reputation in the country as the most expensive elixir that can cure many ailments, from hangovers to unhappy marriages 😊
The town of Borjomi flourished by providing esoteric mineral water health treatments and techniques for treating diseases such as obesity, digestive disorders and diabetes. Bottled water became a central icon of Soviet culture. It is said that when cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin 1961 returned to Earth after his space flight, the first thing he asked for was a bottle of Borjomi water. In 1972 Russian film director Andrei Tarkovsky featured bottles of Borjomi mineral water in his sci-fi classic Solaris to emphasize the drink’s existence far into the future. Until 1980 Borjomi’s annual production reached 400 million bottles. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the city fell into hard times, most sanatoriums were closed. For years, it was a run-down destination for local tourists. In 2002 IDS Borjomi International, a majority Kazakh-owned company, bought the Georgian Glass & Mineral Water Co. factory.
